Study Reveals Grossest Hygiene-Related Office Behaviors

It’s cold and flu season, which means offices and workplaces across America will fill with a symphony of coughs, sneezes and nose blows. While these noises can be distracting and lead to the spread of viruses and bacteria, they can also be downright gross. To identify which behavior Americans cite as the “grossest,” Cintas Corp. facilitated a survey conducted online by Harris from October 23-27, 2014 among 2,011 adults ages 18 and older. The study found that of the 81 percent of Americans who have witnessed a gross workplace habit, the majority concluded that the act of wiping a runny nose on one’s hands or sleeve is the grossest.

The top five “grossest” cold and flu behaviors include:

Wiping runny nose on hands or sleeve:16%
Not covering mouth/nose when sneezing: 15%
Not covering mouth when coughing: 12%
Not washing hands frequently: 9%
Leaving dirty tissues on desk: 8%

WHAT IS WORLD TOILET DAY?

worldtoiletday.jpg

World Toilet Day is a day to take action. It is a day to raise awareness about all people who do not have access to a toilet - despite the human right to water and sanitation.

It is a day to do something about it.

Of the world’s seven billion people, 2.5 billion people do not have improved sanitation. 1 billion people still defecate in the open. Women and girls risk rape and abuse because they have no toilet that offers privacy.

Visit this excellent website for all the information on the issues and how to help this important cause.

Another Cruise Ship Outbreak!

A cruise ship with 172 passengers and crew members suffering from a gastrointestinal ailment caused by norovirus was met by public health officials when it docked in California on Sunday, authorities and Carnival Corp said.

The outbreak marks the second time in less than a year that the highly contagious virus has spread on the company's Crown Princess ship, which is part of its Princess Cruises fleet. On the latest trip, the ship carried more than 4,100 people on a cruise that departed nearly a month ago from Los Angeles and included stops in Hawaii and Tahiti.

I don’t write all of this bad stuff to gross you out!

Ok what does all of this grim news mean for those of you reading this? It means two things, think about your own hygiene and at your work place and what can you do to educate your customers and potential customer on the products and procedures to be used and followed to reduce the possibility of an outbreak. Thats what we are in this business for isn’t it?

Eagles against the Titans today to hopefully make up for last weeks debacle with the Packers.  Then we have a short week to celebrate Thanksgiving, enjoy the time with those close to you and eat a lot so you can go shopping (its good for the economy)!

Have a great day and an even better sales week!
