OSHA Issues GHS Enforcement Guidance on Upcoming Effective Dates
OSHA has issued its long awaited Enforcement Guidance for the Hazard Communication Standard’s June 1, 2015 Effective Date that provides limited relief from enforcement
Distributors. Under HazCom 2012, distributors must begin using GHS compliant SDSs on June 1, 2015, and GHS compliant labels after Dec. 1, 2015. The enforcement guidance document also allows OSHA enforcement personnel to apply the same case-by-case analysis for a distributor’s reasonable diligence and good faith efforts.
Note, distributors must provide GHS compliant SDSs with the first shipment after the SDSs are provided by the manufacturer or importer.
Finally OSHA states: “In the limited situation described in this memorandum, distributors will be allowed to ship chemicals permissibly labeled with HCS 1994-compliant labels until December 1, 2017.”

We are also updating all of our barcoding the individual containers and cases at this time. We will then update all of our private brand products labels that have been purchased since 1/1/14. Product purchased prior to 1/1/14 will be updated as orders or placed.
