SSB 6/29/25: How To Stay Connect With Your Customers In The Summer

Blog

It’s summer; now what do you do?

Here are practical tips for salespeople to maintain customer contact during the summer holiday season, without being intrusive but keeping relationships warm and opportunities alive:

1. Send Summer-Themed Emails
Keep it light and seasonal — avoid hard selling.
Example: “Wishing you a fantastic summer! Here’s a quick update on how we’re supporting customers this season.”
Include useful content: summer business tips, special hours, product availability reminders.

2. Offer Flexible Meeting Options
Acknowledge that customers may be traveling or on reduced schedules.
Suggest short virtual check-ins or informal coffee meetings in early mornings or late afternoons when schedules are lighter.

3. Share Helpful, Non-Sales Content
Send relevant industry news, summer safety tips, or helpful guides.
Example for cleaning industry: “Quick Guide: Keeping Facilities Safe During Reduced Summer Staffing.”

5. Plan a Mid-Summer Check-In
Set a reminder to touch base halfway through the summer.
Keep it casual: “Hope summer’s treating you well! Just checking in — anything I can help with before fall planning kicks off?”

Summary: Summer is about relationships, not aggressive selling. A light, friendly touch keeps you visible, shows you care, and sets the stage for stronger engagement when everyone’s back in full swing after the holidays.
