SSB 9/7/25: Summer’s Over, Let’s Get To Work

Blog

Summer is over!

Labor Day marks a natural shift in the commercial marketplace. Vacations wind down, schools reopen, and businesses pivot back into full operational mode. For those selling commercial cleaning products, this period can be both a challenge and an opportunity.

On one hand, decision-makers are juggling back-to-school schedules, fiscal planning, and other seasonal distractions. Budgets may be tight, and purchasing decisions can slow as companies refocus after the summer. On the other hand, the demand for cleaning solutions often increases—schools, offices, and facilities all need to refresh and prepare for heavier fall and winter use.

The key is to position your products not just as another item on the supply list, but as tools that make transitions smoother. Highlight solutions that save time, reduce labor, and keep high-traffic spaces healthier. Marketing messages should be concise and emphasize immediate benefits, since your customers are short on attention during this season.

This is also the time to reconnect with clients you may not have spoken with over the summer. A well-timed check-in—paired with offers tailored to fall cleaning challenges—can cut through the noise. Think seasonal campaigns, like “Back-to-Business Clean,” that tie into the post-Labor Day mindset.

3. How to Disinfect Properly
Clean first: Remove dirt, dust, and organic material
Apply disinfectant liberally to surfaces
Follow dwell time: Let the product sit wet on the surface for the amount of time listed on the label (usually 1–10 minutes)
Air out rooms: Measles can linger in the air for hours, so proper ventilation is key
Focus on high-touch surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, chairs, handrails, remote controls, and countertops
