2019 Novel Coronavirus info

If you have been watching the news over the last few days the Coronavirus looks very scary. In this weeks SSB we try to give you some information so when your customers ask you will have some of the answers.

Situation Summary

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Chinese authorities identified the new coronavirus, which has resulted in hundreds of confirmed cases in China, including cases outside Wuhan, with additional cases being identified in a growing number of countries internationally. The first case in the United States was announced on January 21, 2020.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some causing illness in people and others that circulate among animals, including camels, cats and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can evolve and infect people and then spread between people such as has been seen with MERS and SARS.

Suggested pathogen control:
Ensure that environmental cleaning and disinfection procedures are followed consistently and correctly. Thorough cleaning of environmental surfaces with water and detergent and applying commonly used hospital level disinfectants.
Manage laundry, food service utensils and medical waste in accordance with safe routine procedures.

Bullen offers a variety of disinfectant products that carry a coronavirus claim, not on the 2019-nCoV since it is brand new, but it can be assumed that they could also kill this variant. Those products are: RX15, RX44 ACE, RX44 HDQ, RX75, RX78 +, Truekleen Septin 420, Kleen 64 and Poten AB.
