SSB 3/29/26: Is Your Bathroom Clean?

Is your bathroom clean?

I made a stop recently at Buc-ee’s—and like a lot of people, I wasn’t just there for gas. I was there for the bathrooms.

And if you’ve ever been, you already know… they’re spotless. Not “pretty clean.” Not “good for a gas station.” Impressively, consistently clean.

It immediately reminded me of something Tom Peters said over 20 years ago. He talked about choosing where to stop based on one simple factor: the condition of the restroom.

His thinking was simple—if a business cares about that, they probably care about everything else too. Fast forward to today, and Buc-ee’s has built an almost legendary reputation around that exact idea.

Here’s the takeaway for all of us in the cleaning industry:
👉 Cleanliness isn’t just maintenance—it’s marketing.
👉 The restroom isn’t a back room—it’s a brand statement.
👉 And consistency beats everything.

Nobody posts on social media about an “average” restroom. But they will go out of their way—and out of their route—for a clean one.
That’s not just good hygiene… That’s good business.

Disruption Topologies: Pandemic vs. Geopolitical Supply Shocks

We thought it would be interesting to compare the supply chain issues that occurred during the pandemic with the current situation as the Gulf War expands its impact on everything coming out of that region.

The discussion highlights the distinctions between supply chain interruptions caused by military conflict versus those triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

3. How to Disinfect Properly
Clean first: Remove dirt, dust, and organic material
Apply disinfectant liberally to surfaces
Follow dwell time: Let the product sit wet on the surface for the amount of time listed on the label (usually 1–10 minutes)
Air out rooms: Measles can linger in the air for hours, so proper ventilation is key
Focus on high-touch surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, chairs, handrails, remote controls, and countertops
