Summer Isn’t Slow—It’s Your Competitive Advantage

Every year about this time, I hear the same comment:
“It’s summer…everyone’s on vacation.”

While there are certainly people taking time off, this mindset can become one of the biggest obstacles to sales success.

Here’s another way to look at it.

When many salespeople slow down, the opportunities don’t disappear—they simply become easier to find. Decision makers often have fewer meetings, lighter schedules, and more time for conversations. Instead of fighting through a packed calendar in October, you may find it easier to get that appointment in August.

Remember, the sales you celebrate this fall are usually the result of activity that happened during the summer. Proposals don’t write themselves, evaluations don’t begin on their own, and new relationships aren’t built overnight.

Ask yourself a simple question: What can I do today that my competition probably isn’t doing?

Maybe it’s reaching out to a customer who hasn’t ordered in six months. Maybe it’s making three extra prospecting calls. Maybe it’s sending an article or podcast that helps solve a customer’s problem without asking for an order.

Don’t wait for September to get busy.

Use the summer to build relationships, create opportunities, and fill your pipeline. Your future self—and your year-end sales numbers—will thank you.

3. How to Disinfect Properly
Clean first: Remove dirt, dust, and organic material
Apply disinfectant liberally to surfaces
Follow dwell time: Let the product sit wet on the surface for the amount of time listed on the label (usually 1–10 minutes)
Air out rooms: Measles can linger in the air for hours, so proper ventilation is key
Focus on high-touch surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, chairs, handrails, remote controls, and countertops
