5/3/26: Your Most Expensive Cleaning Product Isn’t In The Bottle

Supply Chain Resistant

Everyone is talking about rising chemical costs tied to global supply chain disruptions and the war overseas. And yes—prices are moving. But here’s the reality: chemicals are often less than 10% of the total cost of a cleaning project.
The real cost? Labor.
And unlike chemicals, labor costs don’t just go up—they multiply through inefficiency, poor processes, and outdated methods.
Now is the perfect time to step back and ask:
Are we using the fastest method to get the job done?
Are we using products that reduce dwell time, scrubbing, or rework?
Are we overusing labor where better chemistry or tools could cut time in half?
Smart companies aren’t just reacting to price increases—they’re using this moment to re-engineer how work gets done. Because saving 10% on chemicals is nice… but cutting 20% of labor time? That drops straight to the bottom line.

Tell this to your customers.

Jancast # 212 April 30th, 2026 – Is it Force Majeure time?

So the trend with supply chain issues is starting to look like back in the days of the pandemic, but that was a slow process over the years, versus what we are moving into. In this episode, we cover the recent price jump with key raw materials. On our last Jancast, we discussed how freight was going to be impacted, and we’ve now received the first substantial increase in chemical products, mainly raw materials, with a significant increase in ingredients like propylene glycol. What else could we see increasing on cost and a lower level of supply in the market place.

3. How to Disinfect Properly
Clean first: Remove dirt, dust, and organic material
Apply disinfectant liberally to surfaces
Follow dwell time: Let the product sit wet on the surface for the amount of time listed on the label (usually 1–10 minutes)
Air out rooms: Measles can linger in the air for hours, so proper ventilation is key
Focus on high-touch surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, chairs, handrails, remote controls, and countertops
